What is Retinol?

This is a vitamin that our body naturally uses for cellular health. In cosmetics, it is one of the most effective ingredients for:

How Does Retinol Work?

1.  Cellular Renewal: It accelerates the skin cell renewal process. Aged cells are replaced with new ones more quickly.
2.  Collagen Stimulation: It promotes collagen production, which:

    *   Firms the skin's structure
3.  Pore Cleansing: It prevents dead skin cells from clogging pores.

Start Low and Go Slow

When using retinol, especially at the beginning, balance is critical. An incorrectly chosen dosage and potent ingredients can potentially cause significant damage to your skin. Start with a low-percentage, over-the-counter formula (0.01% – 0.03%), use it twice a week, and then gradually increase the frequency of use to 3-4 times a week to allow your skin to adapt.

Use Retinol Only at Night

Retinol not only makes the skin more sensitive to ultraviolet rays, but sunlight itself also reduces the product's effectiveness. Therefore, retinol should only be used in your nighttime routine, while during the day, you must use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

Furthermore, when using retinol, you should always check the weather forecast and plan your trips to sunny destinations accordingly. It's not advisable to use it if you have to spend a lot of time in the sun. It's better to let your skin rest, but always apply sunscreen to both your face and body.
