Frequently asked questions

This is a nourishing lip oil that moisturises, adds natural shine, and leaves a cooling menthol sensation. The base is a blend of seven plant oils — including jojoba, rosehip, argan, and sunflower — which soften and condition the lip surface. Honey and milk protein extract add a light nourishing layer. The finish is glossy but not sticky. It works as both a standalone lip treatment and a base under lip colour.

Mostly sensation, not treatment. Menthol triggers cold receptors on the skin, which gives an immediate plumping and refreshing feeling on the lips. It does not meaningfully change the structure or pigmentation of lips. The effect is pleasant and makes application more enjoyable, but it is cosmetic rather than therapeutic. If you enjoy that fresh, cooling sensation on your lips — from balms, gloss, or toothpaste — you will likely enjoy this product.

Lip balms are typically wax-based — they sit on the surface and form a barrier. Lip oils are fluid and oil-based, absorbing slightly into the lip tissue to condition and soften from within as well as coating the surface. The finish is lighter, shinier, and less waxy. This A'pieu oil uses a blend of emollient plant oils rather than hard waxes, so it feels more comfortable and glossy, with less of the heavy-coated feeling some balms leave.

Yes — this is one of its best use cases. Apply a small amount, let it absorb for sixty seconds, then blot lightly before applying colour. The oil base softens the lip surface so that lip tints and matte lipsticks apply more evenly and cling less to dry patches. Avoid applying too much or skipping the blot — excess oil will prevent lip colour from adhering cleanly. For glossy lip products, layering on top without blotting adds extra shine and slip.

It is a good daily maintenance product for moderately dry lips — the plant oil blend (jojoba, argan, meadowfoam, apricot kernel) provides genuine emollient conditioning. For severely chapped or cracked lips, it is better used as a first layer before a richer occlusive balm at night, since a pure oil without an occlusive wax or petrolatum layer on top can allow moisture to escape in very dry conditions. During the day as a hydrating gloss, it performs well for most lip types.

It has a very subtle warm tint from the Yellow 6 and Yellow 5 lake pigments listed in the ingredients — so it is not entirely colourless. In practice, this reads as a faint peachy-gold warmth on the lips rather than a visible colour, and it is not enough to replace a tinted lip product. The effect is a natural, slightly enhanced version of your lip colour with added shine. Skin tones vary, but most people would describe this as a sheer-to-clear finish.

Petroleum jelly (vaseline) is an occlusive — it locks in moisture by forming an airtight seal but does not add nourishment on its own. This A'pieu lip oil is an emollient — it conditions and softens the lip tissue, adds shine, and delivers plant-based fatty acids from its oil blend. For daytime wear, the lip oil is far more comfortable, glossy, and aesthetically pleasant. For severely cracked lips overnight, vaseline is more protective. The best approach for very dry lips is both: oil first to condition, vaseline on top to seal.
