Frequently asked questions

It's a first-step oil cleanser designed to dissolve sebum, blackheads, waterproof makeup, and sunscreen — the category of residue that water-based cleansers struggle to remove on their own. It contains Apricot Kernel Oil and Tea Tree Leaf Oil for pore care, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil for skin purifying, and Houttuynia Cordata Extract for soothing. It emulsifies with water and rinses off without leaving a greasy film.

Oil cleansers and foam or gel cleansers work on different principles. Oil dissolves oil — sebum, sunscreen, and most makeup are lipid-based and break down efficiently with an oil cleanser in a way that water-based cleansers cannot replicate alone. Double cleansing — oil first, then a water-based cleanser — ensures a genuinely clean base, reduces residue buildup in pores over time, and is the method behind blackhead prevention rather than just spot treatment.

Yes — it's specifically formulated for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin. Tea Tree Leaf Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia) is a well-studied antibacterial ingredient effective against acne-causing bacteria. Houttuynia Cordata Extract has soothing and purifying properties relevant to congested skin. The soybean oil base is non-comedogenic and absorbs cleanly. The formula is also free of mineral oil, parabens, and synthetic fragrance.

The four blackhead-targeted actives are: Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil — exfoliates dead skin cells and moisturises; Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil — antibacterial, refines skin texture and pore appearance; Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil — purifies skin and supports removal of impurities; Houttuynia Cordata Extract — purifying and soothing. The base also includes Centella Asiatica Extract for calming and Tocopherol (Vitamin E) as an antioxidant.

Apply to dry skin — not wet — and massage gently in circular motions for 30–60 seconds, focusing on the nose, chin, and forehead where blackheads concentrate. When you add water, the oil turns milky and begins to emulsify; continue massaging briefly, then rinse thoroughly. Follow immediately with a water-based facial cleanser (the second step of double cleansing). Do not use as a standalone cleanser — it needs a second cleanse to remove emulsified residue fully.

No — if used correctly. The key is emulsification: when water is introduced during rinsing, the oil formula transforms into a milky emulsion that lifts off the skin cleanly. The base uses lightweight synthetic esters (Triethylhexanoin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isopropyl Myristate) alongside soybean oil, which rinse away more completely than heavier plant oils. Following with a foam or gel cleanser removes any remaining residue and leaves skin clean rather than slick.

The formula contains several essential oils — including lemon peel oil, orange oil, and citronella — which are natural fragrance components and potential sensitisers for reactive skin. Lemon and citrus peel oils also contain furanocoumarins, which can be mildly phototoxic; though this is less of a concern in a rinse-off cleanser than in a leave-on product, thorough rinsing is recommended. People with essential-oil sensitivity should patch test before regular use.
