Frequently asked questions

SPF50+ means it blocks approximately 98% of UVB radiation — the rays that cause sunburn and directly contribute to skin cancer risk. PA++++ is the highest PA rating in the Korean system and indicates very high UVA protection. UVA rays penetrate more deeply into the skin and are the primary driver of photoaging — fine lines, pigmentation, loss of elasticity — as well as contributing to skin cancer risk. Together, SPF50+ and PA++++ represent the maximum protection level available in the Korean sunscreen rating system, making this suitable for prolonged outdoor exposure, high-UV climates, and year-round daily use.

It uses a hybrid system combining both chemical and physical filters. The chemical filters are Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (also known as Octinoxate), Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Octocrylene, and Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine — the last of these, known as Tinosorb S, is a broad-spectrum filter that covers both UVA and UVB and is widely used in Korean and European sunscreens. Titanium Dioxide serves as the physical filter, providing additional UVB and short-UVA coverage. The combination of Tinosorb S with Titanium Dioxide gives this formula strong broad-spectrum coverage across the full UV spectrum. People with known sensitivities to Octinoxate or Octocrylene should check before using.

The formula is primarily chemical filter-based, with Titanium Dioxide as a supporting physical filter rather than the primary UV blocker. Chemical filters are invisible on the skin; Titanium Dioxide at supporting concentrations in a cream base typically does not produce a visible white cast on light to medium skin tones. For deeper skin tones, a minor white cast from the Titanium Dioxide is possible — this is characteristic of any sunscreen containing physical filters. The product description indicates no white cast for daily use, and the cream texture and emollient base are consistent with a formula designed to blend smoothly. Patch testing on the jaw or neck before full-face use will confirm the finish for your specific skin tone.

Apply it as the final step of your morning skincare routine, after moisturiser and before makeup. The critical factor for SPF performance is quantity — most people apply 20–40% of the amount needed to achieve the labelled SPF. For the face, a generous pea-sized amount per cheek, nose, forehead, and chin — approximately 1/4 teaspoon total — is the standard guideline. Apply at least 15–20 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors, or after sweating, swimming, or towel-drying. No sunscreen provides all-day protection from a single morning application regardless of SPF rating.

Yes — the cream texture and lightweight finish are specifically suited to use under makeup. Apply it 15–20 minutes before makeup to allow it to fully set, then proceed with primer or foundation directly on top. The emollient base means it won't pill under foundation, and the niacinamide in the formula doubles as a pore-minimising and tone-evening prep step. For oily skin, a light mattifying primer between this sunscreen and foundation will extend makeup wear and control shine. The 50g size makes it practical as a dedicated face sunscreen without needing to extend to the body.

The seven collagen forms — atelocollagen, desamido collagen, hydrolyzed collagen, soluble collagen, collagen, collagen amino acids, and procollagen — are present at ppm concentrations ranging from 0.0001% to 0.0007%. At these levels, collagen acts as a surface humectant and conditioning agent, contributing to the soft, non-dry finish on the skin after application. This is a genuine benefit in a sunscreen context, where the UV filter system can otherwise leave a slightly drying feel. The collagen is not present at concentrations where structural skin repair or collagen synthesis stimulation would occur. The product's primary value is its sun protection rating and its comfortable, moisturising wear — the collagen supports the latter.

With caution. The formula contains several chemical UV filters including Octocrylene, which has a documented sensitisation rate and is increasingly flagged in dermatological guidance for sensitive skin. Fragrance is also present. For skin with known chemical filter sensitivity, a purely mineral (Titanium Dioxide and/or Zinc Oxide) sunscreen would be safer. For general sensitivity without specific chemical filter intolerance, the niacinamide and adenosine in the formula help offset irritation, and most people tolerate it well. A patch test on the jaw or inner wrist for 48 hours before full-face use is sensible for anyone with reactive skin.
