Frequently asked questions

It carries SPF50+, which blocks over 98% of UVB rays — the ones that cause burning and contribute to skin cancer. PA++++ is the Asian rating system for UVA protection, the rays responsible for long-term skin ageing and pigmentation. Four plus signs is the highest PA rating available. Together, SPF50+ PA++++ means this sunscreen provides the strongest available protection against both types of UV damage in daily use.

It's a hybrid — it combines Titanium Dioxide, a mineral UV blocker that sits on top of skin and physically deflects UV rays, with three chemical UV filters: Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Ethylhexyl Triazone, and Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone. Hybrids typically offer broader UV coverage than either type alone, and a lighter texture than pure mineral formulas. The tone-up finish and the absence of white cast are directly related to this hybrid approach — pure mineral sunscreens are more prone to leaving visible residue.

No — it's a deliberate formulation. The tone-up effect comes from Iron Oxides (CI 77491 and CI 77492), which are mineral pigments that provide a subtle, natural-looking brightening tint without the stark white cast that pure mineral sunscreens can leave. They also offer additional protection against visible light and blue light. The result is a light, skin-evening finish that works as a makeup base rather than a layer that needs to be concealed.

It carries a meaningful skincare payload beyond UV filters. The formula includes Niacinamide (sebum regulation, pore appearance, tone-evening), Tranexamic Acid (pigmentation reduction), Sodium Hyaluronate (hydration), Tocopherol (vitamin E antioxidant), Centella Asiatica Extract at 300 ppm with Madecassoside at 200 ppm (calming and barrier support), and Adenosine (anti-ageing and skin repair). For a sunscreen worn daily, this level of active ingredients compounds meaningfully over time.

No white cast — the hybrid formula with Iron Oxides gives a neutral-to-warm brightening tint rather than a chalky finish. The texture is described as a gel-cream: lightweight, quick-absorbing, and non-greasy, which makes it suitable under makeup. People with oily skin sometimes find tone-up sunscreens slightly dewy; if you're oilier, a light pressed powder on top controls finish without affecting SPF coverage. For dry and combination skin it typically wears comfortably throughout the day.

Apply as the absolute last step in your morning routine, after moisturiser and before makeup if you wear any. Use about half a teaspoon (roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon for the face alone) — most people apply far too little, which reduces actual SPF coverage significantly. Spread evenly across face and neck, including around the eyes. For full-day outdoor exposure, reapply every 2 hours. For indoor use with incidental sun exposure, once in the morning is typically sufficient.

The chemical filters in this formula — Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Ethylhexyl Triazone, and Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone — are among the newer-generation European-approved UV filters with a strong tolerability profile, less associated with irritation than older chemical filters like oxybenzone. Centella Asiatica and Madecassoside in the formula actively counterbalance potential sensitivity. That said, if you have a known reaction to chemical sunscreens specifically, patch testing first is always the right call.
