Frequently asked questions

It addresses all three but with different mechanisms. Dark circles and uneven tone are targeted by the Yellow Complex — Citrus Junos (Yuzu) fruit extract, which contains approximately three times more Vitamin C than lemon and is one of the most effective botanical brighteners for the periorbital area, alongside Chamomile and Pumpkin extract. Puffiness is addressed through the hydrogel's cooling physical effect on contact and the anti-inflammatory action of Chamomile, Scutellaria Baicalensis, and Houttuynia Cordata. Fine lines and loss of firmness respond to the hydration delivered by Glycerin and Shea Butter and the marine collagen base of the hydrogel itself. It won't replace a dedicated retinol eye cream for significant ageing concerns, but for everyday dark circle brightening and depuffing it's a well-formulated option.

The Yellow Complex is Petitfee's proprietary botanical blend for this product: Chamomilla Recutita (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Citrus Junos (Yuzu) Fruit Extract, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Fruit Extract, and Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil. The yellow colour theme isn't cosmetic — these four ingredients are genuinely among the most antioxidant-rich and brightening botanicals available. Yuzu is rich in Vitamin C and citric acid. Chamomile contains apigenin and bisabolol, which calm inflammation and brighten skin surface. Pumpkin provides beta-carotene, Vitamin E, and zinc. Sea Buckthorn is one of the richest known plant sources of carotenoids, tocopherols, and omega fatty acids. Together they address both the cause of dark circles (oxidative damage, inflammation, pigmentation) and the surface appearance simultaneously.

Chondrus Crispus is Irish Moss — a red algae and the source of carrageenan, which forms the elastic, skin-conforming matrix of the hydrogel patch. It's not simply a filler: the hydrogel structure created by Chondrus Crispus has two important functions. First, it holds the patch flush against the contours of the under-eye, which prevents the active ingredients from evaporating into the air as they would from a fabric mask — instead they're driven into the skin. Second, it provides a concentrated reservoir of moisture that releases slowly during the 20–30 minute wear time, creating sustained hydration rather than a brief initial burst. The elastic, jelly-like texture that characterises Petitfee's patches is a direct result of this marine algae base.

Both are traditional Korean medicinal botanicals with strong research backing in the K-beauty context. Houttuynia Cordata (Dokudami in Japanese, Eoseongcho in Korean) is a highly anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial herb — it inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, making it particularly effective at calming the redness, irritation, and increased reactivity that often accompanies the eye area's delicate skin. Artemisia Princeps (Korean Mugwort) is one of K-beauty's most established calming ingredients, known for strengthening the skin barrier, soothing sensitivity, and reducing transepidermal water loss. Both are particularly relevant for the under-eye area, which is thinner than facial skin, more prone to reactivity, and more susceptible to barrier disruption from rubbing and environmental stress.

Apply after cleansing and toning, before your serum and moisturiser. The under-eye should be clean and slightly damp for best adhesion. Use the included spatula to remove patches from the jar — fingers introduce bacteria that degrade the formula over time. Apply one patch to each under-eye area with the pointed end facing inward toward the nose, pressing gently to ensure full contact. Leave for 20 to 30 minutes. After removal, pat the remaining essence gently into the skin rather than wiping it off. Then continue with serum and moisturiser as usual. For depuffing in the morning: store the jar in the refrigerator — cold patches on the under-eye reduce puffiness significantly faster than room-temperature ones.

60 pieces means 30 complete sessions — one patch per eye per session. At two to three sessions per week that's approximately three to four months of use, which is generous for an eye patch product at this price point. Comparable hydrogel eye patches from premium Korean brands (Mediheal, Dr. Jart) at similar patch counts typically cost significantly more. The jar format also preserves the hydrogel better than individually wrapped patches — reduced air exposure maintains both the formula integrity and the jelly texture that makes Petitfee patches adhere so well. The spatula included with the jar is a practical hygiene detail that most comparable products at this tier skip.

For sensitive skin: the formula is well-suited. No harsh alcohols, no sulfates, and the single disclosed fragrance allergen (Citronellol at trace level) means reactivity risk is low. Chamomile, Mugwort, and Houttuynia Cordata are all established calming ingredients that actively support sensitive periorbital skin. The hydrogel format also avoids the cotton fibre irritation that can occur with fabric eye patches. For mature skin with significant fine lines: the patches deliver meaningful hydration and a visible plumping effect from the Glycerin, Shea Butter, and Chondrus Crispus moisture reservoir — fine lines appear temporarily softened for several hours after use. For permanent structural improvement of deep lines, a retinol or peptide-based eye treatment used daily is the complement needed. These patches work best as an intensive hydration and brightening treatment rather than a standalone anti-ageing solution.
